Today we're gonna be talking about one my favorite things which is LinkedIn. So if you're listening to this podcast and you are actively on Facebook or Instagram or TikTok, I would highly encourage you to consider opening up a LinkedIn account. Why? Because LinkedIn is the largest professional networking platform. They have over one billion users and 130 million active daily users.
So what that means for you is it's a place that you can get a lot of visibility. And why do you need visibility? Okay, if you are an expert in your field, or you're gonna be considered as the expert in your field, LinkedIn is where you want to establish that. So if you wanna create yourself as the go -to and the expert, you can do that by optimizing your LinkedIn profile, starting to create content, putting yourself out there.
What that will lead to is additional business opportunities, clients, leads, job opportunities, speaking engagements, you name it. And if you're sitting here listening to this and you're like, okay, well, I already have a LinkedIn account, but I'm not really actively doing anything with it. I'm just logging on and kind of seeing what's going on. Don't be a LinkedIn lurker, okay? It was scary for me when I began my LinkedIn journey about a year and a half ago. I had zero followers, no...
not an established account whatsoever, and I went from zero to over 7 ,000 followers in under a year. And I did that completely organically. What that means is I did not spend any money on ad revenue. I didn't promote any posts at all whatsoever. And when I started out, it is scary because you're probably thinking, okay, well, my coworkers are on there, my ex -boss, whoever, fill in the blank, know, Suzy Q from high school, my, I'm connected to my dad on there.
Forget all that. If any of those people are listening to podcast and are the reasons why you're intimidated or they're holding you back from starting your LinkedIn journey, just go in there and unconnect with them. They won't get a notification and that way they will completely be out of your LinkedIn ecosystem and you will not have that excuse anymore of them holding you back.
