You might be thinking.... what room? The networking rooms! The rooms where other people are that are doing the same things that you want to be doing. The rooms where people are that could potentially offer you a new role, the rooms where other entrepreneurs are hanging out and sharing ideas, the rooms where other podcasters are learning....it is seriously a game changer. And yes, I know these things typically cost time and money, but they are worth it every single time!

Today I want to talk about the importance of actually getting in the room. And I know what you're thinking, okay Caroline, getting in the room takes time and it takes money. But I'm telling you, it is the biggest game changer that has made an impact on my life, both personally and professionally. So let's back it up to when I turned 30, I decided to really start investing in myself professionally and personally. And at the time, that was through books.

So I've read books through by Tony Robbins, John Maxwell, John Gordon, Napoleon Hill, Good to Great by Jim Collins is a good one. I've read books from Annie Porterfield, Jenna Kutcher, Everything is Figureoutable by Marie Folio is one of my favorites. Also Jamie Kern -Lemas Believe It and Worthy are two of my favorites as well. So fast forward, I'm 37 years old now. I've been on this journey for seven years.

And I went from books to listening to personal development podcasts, from listening to podcasts to investing to masterminds. And from investing to masterminds, that's manifested into me starting my own businesses and starting my own podcasts. And so it just is a snowball effect. So let's back it up to 2020. We are in the full pandemic mode at the time. At the time I had my corporate job, I was still working as a recruiter.

And I decided to invest in this mastermind. I interacted with a girl online and she was selling a course on how to do a digital course and create an email list and create an online business. And so I decided to invest in it. And again, at the time it was full pandemic mode, so everything was virtual. But I got out of that group a lot. I was able to interact with lot more entrepreneurs and I learned a lot of skills in the email marketing, creating online business.

personal branding, I learned a lot of technology, as in what tech stocks to use when you were wanting to take this path or this journey in the online space. And yes, was it a hefty investment for me with time and money, but it was worth every penny. So fast forward from there, I've started my own business, I've started Sheldino, I've started my podcast, I've started building a personal brand on LinkedIn that is now exploding.

And it's the beginning of 2024. And a girl I admire very much, she has multiple businesses and she has a podcast called Empower Her. So her name is Kasia Get Mary and she decided to open up her podcast Mastermind. And she was only gonna take eight people for that Mastermind. And so when I saw it, that she announced it, and it was for podcasters who had been experienced. And so at that time, I had my podcast for about a year.

and I sent her a DM and said I'm interested in it. And so she and I DM'd back and forth and I didn't even think I'd have the opportunity to apply, but she slid back into my DMs and she said, okay, I think you're ready to apply. So I had to go through this application process. Hundreds, if not thousands of people applied to be in the program. Next thing you know, I hear back from her and she says, check your email. Well, lo and behold, she accepted me.

to the podcast mastermind program, I was floored and I had to make a decision within 24 hours of whether or not I was gonna invest in this program. And keep in mind this was a hefty investment and included a retreat in Denver, but it put me in the room with eight other individuals who were doing things like I wanted to be doing, who now I call my friends. They are now people I can text when I have business questions, when I have things I

just run by them without having to go out and hire an expert. And so this is my encouragement to you. I know this is a shorty podcast, but if you have the opportunity for networking, whether it's something free or something you invest in or have to qualify for, go do it. The people that you will meet in these rooms will change your life. Until next time.
