78: {Pep Talk} Overcoming Fear

Have you ever had that inner voice inside of you rear it's head pulling you in another direction than where you are currently going? Maybe it's to pursue another job, or start a business, or start being active on social media or start a podcast or maybe it's something in your personal life. Either way, fear is what typically holds us back. And at the end of the day, fear is just a 4 letter word. 

In today's shorty episode, I am here to encourage you that whatever it is that you are being called to do- do it!!! Don't let fear hold you back!

Today I want to talk about overcoming fear. Fear at the end of the day is nothing but a four letter word. Okay, so we cannot let that change the trajectory of our lives. Whether or not you have this internal voice wanting to push you to do something personally in your life or you have this tiny voice inside of you saying that you need to push yourself in a different direction or pivot in your professional life, we have to listen to that tiny voice and you cannot let fear hold you

Fear is the number one thing that I see hold people back and it is such a shame because you can put yourself out there and create the life that you have always wanted and the life that you've ever dreamed of. And you just have to check fear and I've had to do this so many times in my professional life. It's not even funny, but I can't tell you how many women I've talked to recently. And it almost seems like daily now that they had this business idea or they want to start this community or they want to get active on social media.

or they want to write a book or speak on stages and they're letting fear hold them back and I hate to see that and I just am here to encourage you that you just have to check the fear and put it aside. I had a lot of fear when I decided to start putting myself out there on LinkedIn. Okay, I had been on the platform for almost 15 years as a recruiter and I had been very active and knew how to go out there and get and recruit the candidates that I needed to fill the jobs I was working

but I didn't know how to content create or do any of those things on LinkedIn. So whatever you see right now from the outside, it was not that way on the inside about a year and a half ago. And when I decided to commit to LinkedIn, it was very scary for me. All my coworkers are watching me. All the executive team at the company I was working at was watching me. All my ex -coworkers are watching me. All my ex -bosses are watching me. My family was watching

and everybody was watching me and it was so visible. But I'm so glad I decided to do it. I did have fear talking to me in my brain, in my head saying, you're not a content creator on LinkedIn, you don't know what you're doing, why are you putting the information that you know out there, this is silly, like all the excuses and all the negative things I could have said to myself. I could have believed that fear and let it hold me back, but instead I put it aside, I checked it.

and continued on anyways. And so my encouragement is to you is if you have an idea or something new that you want to try, a new skill that you want to learn, whatever fill in the blank it is and you are fearful that you're not going to be good at it, guess what? In the beginning, nobody is good at anything. And just keep that in mind. Don't let the fear hold you back because you can create the life of your dreams no matter if you're on a personal journey, a professional journey, whatever it looks like, but you can't let fear hold you
